With senior year coming to an end, a lot could be said about the last four years spent at Colonia High.
Early years as a Patriot
Starting my freshman year I never thought it would be like this, saying that in a good way. My freshman year like anyone else starting a new chapter. I was nervous as to what is going to happen. Am I going to succeed ? am I going to fail all these questions were going through my head. Until I got involved. Freshman year I was a class officer , I as also part of the winter and spring track teams. For me freshman year was just a year of figuring out myself. Seeing what I like and what I don’t like things like that.
Sophomore year comes around and I became a homeroom representative , joined the cross country team along with the winter and spring track teams. I would say that my sophomore year is where I was set I figured out my true passions, and by then I would say I had a stellar relationship with most of my teacher and coaches.
Last 2 years as a patriot
Junior year comes around and I managed to add something else to my interest. I started writing for the school newspaper. When I took my first class ever as a student journalist. It was then when I realized that I was capable of a lot more than I thought I was . On top of that I was also nominated to be a part of the Heroes & Cool Kids program along with Cross Country, winter and spring track
Senior year my final year as Patriots. Starting this year I could not believe that my years as a patriot are officially coming to an end. I knew I had to make the most of it while I can. I tried to attend as much sporting and school spirit events as I possibly can. I continued with my journalism journey and still did all the activities I did from my past years. One thing I would say I did more of this year is I became a lot closer with the teacher and administration staff at Colonia high.
What it had taught me
Slowly concluding my senior year I would say it has been quite a ride. It had taught me a lot. It had taught me a lot. One of the things it taught me is that you create opportunities for yourself, and high school is what you make out of it. It also taught me that your teacher could be one of the best friends you will ever have. It had truly taught what it’s like to be a young women and what it means to have character & commitment.
If I could give any advice to the underclassmen it would be to not be afraid to get involved and try things you didn’t think you would. Believe it or not this could be a way for you to find your passion in life like I did. Even though the end of my senior year is not what I expected it to be. I am still forever grateful for having the opportunity to be a Colonia Patriot.
